PS Plus October 2026 Lineup: Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West, and a Day-One Shooter

Sony just dropped the PS Plus October 2026 Game Catalog lineup, and it might be the strongest month the service has had all year. Mafia: The Old Country and Horizon Forbidden West headline nine additions, with the four-player co-op shooter Mycopunk launching day-one straight into the catalog on October 20.
The catch, as usual lately, is the staggered rollout. The Midnight Walk is already live — it joined October 14 in the US and UK, October 15 in Japan — the heavy hitters land October 20, and the final three trickle in October 27. So the full PS Plus October 2026 lineup doesn't actually exist in one place until the end of the month.

- Mycopunk (PS5) — October 20, day-one release
- Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 (PS5, PS4) — October 27

What to Play First
Start with Mafia: The Old Country. Hangar 13's trip to 1900s Sicily follows Enzo Favara through the origins of organized crime, and it's the kind of big narrative swing that rarely shows up on subscription services this fast. Period weapons, horseback travel, early motorcars — it's a slower, more deliberate Mafia than the Empire Bay days, and the setting does a lot of heavy lifting.
Horizon Forbidden West needs no sales pitch. If you somehow skipped Aloy's trip through the Forbidden West, this is your excuse — it's one of the best-looking open worlds on the console and the machine combat still holds up against anything released since.
Mycopunk is the wildcard. A four-player co-op looter shooter where a crew of robot exterminators fights a planet-wide fungal outbreak, published by Devolver Digital. The pitch — team up with three friends to shred giant fungal monsters with customizable futuristic weaponry — lives or dies on whether your whole group owns it. Day-one on the catalog removes that problem entirely.
The Midnight Walk is your Halloween pick. A dark fantasy adventure built from hand-crafted clay and animated in stop-motion, playable on PS VR2. Creepy, gorgeous, and already sitting in your library.
The Classics Are the Sleeper Hit
Don't sleep on Dino Crisis 2. Regina and Dylan versus the Third Energy disaster, running on modern hardware — for a certain generation of PlayStation owners this is pure nostalgia fuel, and it holds up better than most PS1-era action games. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition is the cozy counter-programming: build the park, manage the staff, lose four hours without noticing.
The Staggered Release Problem
Sony keeps doing this staggered thing — a game on the 14th, the bulk on the 20th, the rest on the 27th — and I'm still not a fan. It keeps subscribers checking back, sure, but it also means nobody can just look at the month and plan their backlog. The October lineup is genuinely stacked; it doesn't need artificial drip-feeding to stay interesting.
How It Stacks Up Against Game Pass
October has been a ridiculous month for subscription services. Xbox countered by putting Battlefield 6 on Game Pass as Season 5 arrived, which is arguably the bigger get for shooter fans. Sony's answer leans narrative: Mafia, Horizon, and Tales of Arise are all story-first games you can sink 40+ hours into each.
Different philosophies, honestly. Microsoft is buying the multiplayer crowd, Sony is buying the single-player crowd, and subscribers on either side are eating well.
If you're rationing your backlog for November, remember GTA VI is one month out — clearing Horizon Forbidden West before November 19 is a genuinely good use of the next five weeks.
The Verdict
Nine games, two classics, two trials, one day-one launch. The PS Plus October 2026 lineup has something for the horror crowd, the RPG crowd, the co-op crowd, and the nostalgia crowd. Download Mafia first, grab Mycopunk before your friends do, and don't let Dino Crisis 2 sit in your library untouched. Some classics deserve better than that.
