ID@Xbox x IGN Showcase 2026: Every Announcement, From Digging a Hole Together to Arctic Eggs

The ID Xbox showcase 2026 aired Tuesday, October 20, and it was exactly the kind of weird, delightful broadcast indie Xbox events have become known for. Co-produced with IGN, the showcase ran through roughly 20 indie titles headed to Xbox and PC, headlined by a world premiere sequel about digging holes with your friends, a same-day shadow-drop about frying eggs in Antarctica, and yet another stack of day-one Game Pass commitments carrying Microsoft into 2027.
ID Xbox showcase: the headliners
The biggest news was the reveal of A Game About Digging a Hole Together, the sequel to the viral subterranean sandbox. This time the minimalist digging is a beachfront co-op affair: dig together, collect resources, sell them, upgrade your equipment, and hunt a promised treasure buried deep beneath the sand. It launches December 4, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Game Pass day one, as Microsoft confirmed in its official Xbox Wire recap.
The surprise of the show belonged to Critical Reflex. The publisher shadow-dropped Arctic Eggs — the physics-driven frying sim where you cook eggs (plus cockroaches, shot glasses, sausages, and stingrays) in a surreal Antarctic city to earn an audience with the Saint of Six Stomachs — available on Xbox Series X|S immediately. It also locked in two more of its cult hits for Xbox: the psychological horror Mouthwashing lands October 29 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC, and Game Pass, while the impostor-identification anxiety thriller No, I'm Not a Human arrives in 2027.
Game Pass keeps eating indies
If there was a theme beyond "indies are getting stranger," it was day-one Game Pass as the distribution lever. The frog precision platformer Croak (March 2027, Xbox Play Anywhere), deck-building siege defense roguelike Drill Keeper (summer 2027), MMO-lite action RPG Scramble Knights Online (October 26, 2026), and Cold War vampire tactics RPG Red Kiss all committed to Game Pass day one. Add the ones already lining up — Battlefield 6's Game Pass arrival alongside its Las Vegas season — and late 2026 is shaping up as one of the busiest subscription windows Xbox has ever stacked.
Two remasters also grabbed attention. Shrek 2 Remastered pre-orders are live ahead of a November 10 launch (Game Pass members get 20% off pre-orders), and The Wolf Among Us Remastered showed a new story trailer — Bigby's redesigned werewolf form, Noir Mode, playable deleted scenes — ahead of its October 29 digital launch. Disco Elysium follow-up studio ZA/UM closed things out with ZERO PARADES: Director's Cut, its espionage RPG arriving November 3 with roughly 40,000 words of new story and full English voice-over.
Why this ID@Xbox showcase matters
Microsoft used the broadcast to quietly push its Play Anywhere story hard: many showcased games will support buy-once-play-everywhere at launch, which continues to blur the line between Xbox console and Xbox on PC. The bigger signal is strategic. With first-party blockbusters getting more expensive to make and riskier to bet on, the indie playbook — a weird hook, a tight scope, day-one Game Pass visibility — is doing real heavy lifting for the platform's 2027 calendar. Weird sells. Fry an egg for the Saint of Six Stomachs and see.
October is packed regardless of what you play: Fortnite's final Chapter 7 Season 4 patch just went live, and if you're still holding out for the big one, GTA VI is a month away. But the ID Xbox showcase 2026 reminded us of something the AAA calendar keeps forgetting: the weirdest games in the room are usually the most interesting ones. Dig a hole. Fry an egg. Interrogate a stranger. See you on Game Pass.
