PEAK's console release is locked in: October 22, 2026. Aggro Crab and Landfall announced this week that the co-op climbing phenomenon is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 next week, with full cross-play across every platform so nobody's friend group gets split up.

The PEAK console release includes everything

Console players aren't getting a stripped-down port. The developers confirmed the PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2 versions ship with all content updates, biomes, and items the PC version has picked up since its June 2025 Steam debut — including the Final Ascent update that added the Gloom and Citadel biomes and an alternate ending for climbers who collect all four gems.

The proximity chat system comes along too, which matters more than it sounds. PEAK's viral spread last year ran on clips of friends screaming at each other over voice chat while tumbling down a mountain. Strip that out and you lose half the game.

For the uninitiated: PEAK is a physics-based co-op climbing game for one to four players. You're a lost nature scout stranded on a mysterious island, and the only way off is up — through four biomes of environmental hazards, questionable food, stamina management, and injuries that make every setback sting. The mountain rotates daily, groups are friends-only, and yes, you can physically kick your friends mid-climb in custom runs.

Eleven million copies and a $6.99 price tag

The numbers are silly. PEAK sold five million copies on Steam in under a month after its June 16, 2025 launch and has since passed 11 million, per reporting from GameTrader.SG and FullCleared. For a game born as a one-month game jam project in Seoul — three Aggro Crab devs, four Landfall devs, one rented apartment — that's one of the great indie runs of the decade.

Team Peak is the joint name for Aggro Crab (Another Crab's Treasure, Going Under) and Landfall (Content Warning, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator). After the jam, the two studios went their separate ways to finish their own projects, then reconvened in Sweden in June 2025 to ship the thing.

The console digital version is priced at $6.99, according to AltChar — the same impulse-buy territory as Steam, where the game sits at €7.49. That's a deliberate choice. PEAK's whole pitch is a game you buy for your entire friend group, and seven bucks a head is cheaper than a round of drinks.

A PS5 physical edition lands December 9

Collectors get their own option. Skybound Games is publishing a PS5 physical edition on December 9 for $19.99, and the bundle is smarter than the usual disc-in-a-case: you get the game disc, a printed Scout Passport with stickers, and a Buddy Code for a free digital copy to hand to a friend.

That's the PEAK business model distilled — the game spreads through friend groups, so the physical edition literally ships with a second copy. Smart.

Why this matters for console players

The Switch 2 angle is the interesting one. PEAK is one of the bigger indie gets for Nintendo's new hardware in its first year, and cross-play means Switch 2 owners climb with PC and PlayStation friends from day one rather than waiting in an empty lobby.

For everyone else: the mountain opens October 22. Grab three friends, turn on proximity chat, and try not to be the one who kicks the rope.
